FAQs

Q: What is the cookie duration?

A: Cookies expire after 60 days. If a user signs up after clicking your link within 30 days and becomes a paying beehiiv member, that qualifies for a commission! Commissions are paid on a last-click basis, so you must be the last touch point before the user signs up.

Q: How long do users have to upgrade to a paying subscription?

A: Users have within 12 months of signing up for an account to upgrade to a paying subscription. The 12 month clock starts when they signup initially. For example in the case that a referred user starts on the Launch plan ($0) and ugrades during month two to the Grow plan ($49), the Partner would receive gross commissions of $245 (i.e. $49 x 10 months * 50%).

Q: What if a user signs up for an annual plan?

A: If a referred user signs up for an annual plan a Partner would receive a 50% commission on the lump sum value of the payment. So, for example, a $499 annual Grow plan would pay a $249.50 commission.

Q: What if they downgrade?

A: If a user downgrades, the commission falls to the level of the referred users new plan value. For example, if a referred user who is on the Scale plan ($99) downgrades to the Grow plan ($49), the referring partner’s commission would fall from $49.50 to $24.50.

Q: What if a user upgrades after downgrading?

A: If a user upgrades after downgrading, the commission rises to the level of the referred users new plan value. For example, if a referred user who is on the Grow plan ($49) upgrades to the Scale plan ($99), the referring Partner’s commission would rise to $49.50 from $24.50.

Q: What is the cadence of payouts?

A: Payments are made to all partners on the 15th of each month, which covers the earnings from the prior month. For example, if you referred a single user in June on the Scale plan ($99), you would receive $49.50 on July 15th.

Q: Are there any disallowed traffic sources?

A: Partners are prohibited from competing with beehiiv’s advertising efforts or conducting advertising that is deceptive. Please refer back to this section for a list of prohibited channels. This list is not exhaustive, and ultimately, judgment of prohibited tactics are reserved at the sole discretion of beehiiv Inc. Violators may be given one warning delivered over email. If prohibited behavior is egregious, or continues after a warning is received, Partner participation in the program may be terminated without warning and commissions forfeited: Unsolicited, cold or spam emails, Automated bots, Deceptive advertising, Advertising that violates beehiiv brand guidelines.

Q: Do creators get access to promo codes?

A: No, partners receive a unique link that is shared with prospective customers.
