Subscribe Forms

Module 4 — Lesson 23

Subscribe Forms allow you to capture email addresses from external web pages outside of beehiiv’s native platform.

For example, if you have your own website on Webflow or you used a webpage builder like Carrd — you can embed a subscribe form to collect email addresses and add them to your beehiiv publication.

I know that may sound complicated… but trust me, there are SO many cool things you can do with Subscribe Forms.

But before I get to all the cool use cases, let me show you how to set up a Subscribe Form.

  1. Head over to Audience → Subscribe Forms → Create new form

  1. Fill out the Subscribe Form details

  1. Copy the embed code

  1. Paste your Subscribe Form on your external website

💡 Pro Tip: Use Typedream as a free landing page builder. Paste your Subscribe Form. Link to a lead magnet. Boom! Free lead magnet subscribe funnel (more on this below).

💡 Pro Tip: Add a Subscribe Form at the bottom of your articles in the web version. Visitors are more likely to subscribe to your newsletter after reading a sample of your content.

Advanced Growth Tactics

Another use of the beehiiv Subscribe Form is to create a lead magnet. A lead magnet is a free asset or special deal you offer users in exchange for their email address.

Lead magnets are a great way to incentivize people to sign up for your newsletter. But more importantly, it follows the Reciprocity Principle: If you give value upfront, people are more likely to give value in return.

So here’s how you set up your lead magnet:

  1. Create your landing page

Go to Settings → Website → Pages → Add Internal Page

  1. Create your ‘Thank You’ page

Go to Settings → Website → Pages → Add Internal Page

  1. Create your Subscribe Form

Copy and paste your ‘Thank You’ page link.

Go to Publication → Subscribe Forms → Create New Form

You can customize the details. But most importantly paste your ‘Thank You’ page link in the redirect to the external page box.

  1. Add your Subscribe Form to your landing page

Hit save. Then copy one of the embed options. I recommend either the very first option or the Slim Embed.

Head back to your landing page Settings → Website → Pages

Paste your Subscribe Form in an HTML Snippet.

  1. Set up a drip campaign automation on the backend

Go to Write → Automations → Create Automation → Workflow

Write email 1:

And email 2:

This is really important: Go to Edit Conditions

And Select Embed Source → Was → Your Subscribe Form

This will ensure only subscribers who came from your specific lead magnet landing page will be sent this drip campaign.

Lastly, if you have a normal welcome sequence, remember to exclude subscribers who came from your lead magnet landing page from your normal welcome sequence.

And there you have it! I know that was a lot, so thanks for sticking with me.
